I’ve chosen Astronomy as the topic of my Blog. Why Astronomy? First all, Amateur Astronomy is one of my hobbies, and I find it to be an interesting topic. Astronomy is a hobby that can be local, as in the case of sharing infomation about Astronomy Clubs or Dark Sky sites, but it also can be a wide-ranging topic that includes everything from NASA to science news.
Ways to Grow and Engage Community
These are some of the ways I plan to grow and engage the community. This will not only increase the popularity and viewiership of my blog, but it will foster communication and sharing of ideas, as I wil reach out to readers and invite them to provide content.
1. Frequent Posting – I’m going to Post on a daily basis. There’s enough information available to post, and because Astronomy is a particularly timely subject, it’s even more important to make frequent posts. This will also help engage readers, as the posts will be timely and relevant.
2. Links -I’m going to use links from other sites. I realize the need to balance local information with posts that will interest people from remote locations, and because the blog has to have a broad base, I intend to use links for news and expand the scope of the topics presented.
4. Blog Carnival – I will be joining the blog carnival by adding the blog to my signature on the blogs I already visit. This will return readers to my blog, and I can use this to help spread the information on my posts. Commenting on other sites will increase my web presence, and it will be a great way to meet people with similar interests.
5. Social Media – I wll be enhancing my blog to include Social Media, so the blog posts will be reflected on my Twitter, Facebook, and other Social Media accounts. This will increase the reach of my Blog, and encourage my followers to read my posts, and contribute content. I will also include my contact information on my Blog.
